Rural Development Institute (RDI), a rural outreach division of HIHT, was created by Swami Rama in 1991, with an intention for not only providing the people of underdeveloped area with quality health care, but also to ensure overall development of the people focusing on quality of life issues

RDI is a nonprofit voluntary organization with a mission to serve the people of Uttarakhand and underprivileged people, through integrated and cost effective approaches of health care and development.

RDI does extensive field research and uses a multi-dimensional approach to address locally defined needs and priorities, in order to serve the people at large. Special attention is given to the needs of women and children; to improve health status; provide opportunities for education and social development of children and adolescents. Our programs are focused on:

    Primary Health Care
    Dental Services
    Reproductive & Child Health
    School Health
   Adolescent Initiatives

Water & Sanitation
Livelihood
Education

In addition to direct interventions of the program, RDI is also a nodal agency implementing lot of programs through other NGO's within the state. RDI is active in many areas like Health / Sanitation/Medical care, agriculture/ husbandry, Tele-services including tele-medicine facilities, Skill formation/ Self-employment, Training, Socio-economic development, Relief / rehabilitation, Women & Child Development & Education.

RDI is currently reaching extensively in 1100 villages with direct interventions in all the 13 districts of the state. Over a decade, this work has helped people realize their potentials and move ahead in their life.
