1st Convocation of HIHT University - 4th February, 2012

Dr. C. Rangarajan, Chairman of the Prime Minister's Economic Advisory Council confers the degrees at the 1st Convocation of HIHT University on 4th February, 2012.

The HIHT University held its 1st Convocation on 4th February 2012 at which 63 students of MD/MS & MPT Post Graduate courses of 2008 batch were awarded their degrees. The Academic Procession impressed the gathering of faculty, staff, invited guests, students & their parents with their regalia. The members of the Army Band, dressed smartly in colorful uniforms, played mesmerizing tunes adding to the grandeur of the ceremony.

The event was inaugurated by the Chief Guest Dr. C. Rangarajan who lighted the ceremonial lamp along with the Vice Chancellor, HIHTU Dr. Vijay Dhasmana. Both dignitaries then paid their homage to H.H. Shri Swami Rama, the founder of HIHT. They were joined by the Dr. V. Chauhan - Dean of Himalayan Institute of Medical Sciences, Sh. Nalin Bhatnagar, Registrar HIHT University, Faculty, officials and staff of HIHT University. The degrees were conferred to the first batch of PG students.

Addressing the students on the occasion Dr. Rangarajan said "The profession of a doctor is very respectful and dignified" and encouraged them to work hard for achieving their goals in life. Terming the students as "builders of the nation" he urged the students to work hard towards the betterment of the society & the nation.

Extending a warm welcome to Dr. Rangarajan & other invitees on the occasion, Dr. Vijay Dhasmana congratulated the students on their success. The Vice Chancellor highlighted the growth of academic standards of HIHTU over the past years and urged them to "remember that selfless service is the highest spiritual discipline which has a double effect of removing ego & providing bliss".

The Dean, Dr. Chauhan proposed vote of thanks at the conclusion of the ceremony as the band played the national anthem melodiously. The awarded students celebrated their Degrees with their family & friends adding to the pleasant memories of the 1st Convocation of HIHTU.
