The students welcomed all the distinguished
guests by presenting them floral bouquets. Dr. Rana, Mrs. P Barua, Dr.
Kathleeen M. Mcheehan, Mrs. Upma George, Nursing Superintendent lit
the lamp before the Florence Nightingale which was passed on to the
students and was followedd by the Nurses' pledge. Mrs. Pranati Barua,
principal, presented the Annual Report of the Nursing College. The Chief
Guest, Mr.S Kalpana Mandal could not attend the function, however, her
message was read by Mr. Shalini Sharma, Senior Nursing Tutor. She said
in her message that the lamp is the symbol of light, light when illuminates
it brings a ray of hope, happiness and glow on our faces but in the
field of nursing this lamp holds a special symbolic attribute of Florence
Nightingale, the the lady with the lamp. She also wished the students
and encouraged the them to have the courage, conviction, energy &
honesty to serve the people and the profession to the best of their
ability.The prizes for academic excellence (2006-2007) were distribued
by Dr. Rana. He addressed the gathering with a very thoughtful and motivating
speech. He adivsed the students to keep up the saying "Nurses are
the heart and soul of the hospital".
Mr. Vijay Dhamana, Vice Chancellor,
HIHT University felicitated the gathering. He said "follow truth,
it will never fail".
Vote of thanks was proposed by Mrs.
Shabana Anwar, Nursing Tutor. She thanked the gathering for joining
the lamp lighting ceremony.
The formal function was followed
by delicious lunch for all the guests and other invitees in the open
park under the gazebo of HIH. Nearly 650 atteneded the function. This
was followed by Cultural Evening on the occassion of the Annual Day
of the nursing college. Students gave excellent performances in music,
dance and drama.
